In the past year, the Savannah Philharmonic Chorus has performed Mendelssohn’s “Elijah,” Mozart’s “Requiem,”
and Beethoven’s “Choral Fantasy to enthusiastic and appreciative audiences here at the Cathedral. The
Philharmonic board is grateful to Bishop Boland and the Cathedral staff for helping to make these classical music
presentations possible.
Enough cannot be said about the fabulous contributions made by our maestro, Peter Shannon, to the Savannah
music scene. Suffice it to say that without his bold “leap of faith” from Heidelberg to Savannah two years ago, we
would not be in existence today. If you would like to see concerts like this continue to be produced in Savannah with
local musicians, we invite you to join the Friends of the Philharmonic. Ushers and board members will be available
during intermission and after the concert to provide information and membership forms.
While the world is changing with dizzying speed and uncertain direction, it is comforting, indeed reassuring, to be
carried beyond our daily cares on the wings of great music. Enjoy!
Dick Platt
Chairman of the Board
